Are you detail-oriented, organized, and ready to make an impact? The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Procurement Specialist 1 to support our Maintenance and Repair Shop operations.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our fleet and equipment stay in top condition by managing procurement, inventory, and vendor relationships.

Location: Ames, Iowa


Shift Requirements: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM; travel as assigned


As a Procurement Specialist 1, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Research & Procurement: Source parts and materials, compare pricing, and prepare quotes.
  • Purchasing: Write requisitions, use P-Card for purchases, and maintain records.
  • Order Fulfillment: Package and ship orders; resolve vendor issues.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct inventories, reorder supplies, and organize stock.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage accounts payable/receivable, reconcile statements, and enter data.
  • Administrative Support: Answer phones, greet customers, and track project spending.
  • Material Handling: Operate DOT vehicles and forklift for deliveries.
