Job Description

Summary

This role involves supervising high-risk individuals on probation or parole, including those in specialized court programs, while mentoring junior staff and leading training sessions.

It requires developing personalized plans for clients, facilitating group interventions, and handling varied duties like onboarding new employees and participating in community activities.

Key Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, plus three years of full-time experience in human services or criminal justice
  • A combination of seven years of education and/or full-time experience in human services or criminal justice (30 semester hours equals one year of experience)
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch with 30 months as a Probation/Parole Officer 2
  • Proficiency in using the DRAOR case management tool for developing and updating client case plans
  • Ability to facilitate cognitive-behavioral intervention groups and lead training classes or seminars
  • Experience providing mentoring, guidance, and support to team members on complex strategies
  • Willingness to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and travel to various sites

Full Job Description

Supervises highest risk probation/parole-status clients, which may include clients assigned to Specialty Court programming.

Additional duties assigned may include but are not limited to assisting with field employee onboarding, overseeing any assigned operations, participating in District/State work groups as assigned.

Proficiency and strict adherence to the use of a case management tool (DRAOR) and development of case plan/action plan with required updates and reassessments.

May facilitate cognitive-behavioral and other intervention groups as the lead facilitator and leads training classes and seminars; provides Training of Trainers in programs and provides continuous quality improvement to PPO 1’s and PPO 2’s and other staff as designated.

Serve as a lead officer assisting with supervisory or other program oversight duties and provides mentoring, training, guidance, support, and assistance to other team members on how to exhibit and perform difficult skills and complex strategies.

Travels to various work sites and participate in work activities such as training, court/administrative hearings, and other related community functions.

Work schedule: Varies as needed, including night and weekend hours, non-fixed variable schedule.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to three years of full-time work in a human services or criminal justice field.
  2. A total of seven years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes thirty months of full-time work as a Probation/Parole Officer 2.
