Probation/Parole Officer 2

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to become a key player in preparing clients for successful reentry into society as a Probation Parole Officer at the Iowa Department of Corrections.
As a Probation Parole Officer in our community-based corrections facility, you will be a direct service provider, engaging in high-contact interactions with clients. You will play an essential role in eliciting and supporting pro-social behaviors, with a focus on programming that fosters personal growth and reduces the risk of reoffending.
We value initiative and independent judgment, and you will be part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to observe and assess client behaviors and interactions. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to build quality relationships with clients will be essential in driving positive change.
Initially this position will primarily be assigned to supervise low to moderate risk caseloads of individuals who have been accused of or convicted of a sexual offence or an offense with a sexual component and ordered to pretrial, PSI, probation or parole supervision.

Work LocationThis position can be in either the Ames Area Office or the Marshalltown Area Office covering counties in both catchment areas including Marshall, Hardin, Story, Boone, and others as assigned depending on workload and client needs.
HoursThis is a variable schedule position. The hours are generally 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday with variation to accommodate caseload requirements, pre-trial program requirements, treatment services for clients, traveling, and training.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field.
- A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience in a human services or criminal justice field, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of full-time work as a Probation/Parole Officer 1.
