This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Financial Management Division, Office of Administration (FS), Fleet, Property, and Office Services Section (FSO), Office Services Unit (FSOS), Print Production Studio.
This position(s) primary purpose is to be responsible for a full range of printing service for DEA for a variety of products to include correspondence, newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, and reports.

Basic Qualification Requirements: Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- journalism, business administration, English composition, commerce, accounting, printing or printing engineering, graphic or commercial art, industrial engineering, or economics.
OR Specialized Experience: Determining specifications for the printing of manuscript, i.e., selection of typography, layout, composition, format, paper stock, and other printer's instructions.
Negotiating or administering contracts for procurement of manuscript and illustrations, printing, binding and allied services, or printing stocks (paper, inks, etc.).
Managing a printing plant that produces printing either for the government or private industry customers. Performing production control work in a large printing plant.
Serving as a sales representative for a wide variety of printing equipment. Analyzing the price and cost of preparation and production of printing.
Planning, estimating, and scheduling printing on a full-time basis for a variety of publications.
Performing substantive administrative support or policy functions directly related to publishing and printing program management or operations.
AND Applicants applying for the GS-07 must meet one of the following requirements: A.
Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-05 grade level.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Consulting with and advising customers on print products and specifications; 2) Assisting with maintenance of and contract records for equipment operations; and 3) Providing advice to project managers and coordinating officials on alternative printing techniques.
OR B. One (1) full year of graduate level education; OR Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA).
In order to be creditable under this provision, SAA must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position and is based on: Class Standing: Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class, based on completed courses; Grade Point Average: applicants must have a grade point average of: 3.0 or higher: Based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR; 3.5 or higher: Based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR; Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society: Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.
Applicants applying for the GS-09 must meet one of the following requirements: A.
Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-07 grade level.

OR B. Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years.
I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12.
Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.

As a Printing Specialist, your typical work assignments may include: Consults with customers on print products and advising them on proper regulations, quality of materials, sizes, quantities, and the look and presentation of job requests.
Analyzes the price and cost of preparation and production of printing.
Operates and troubleshoots print shop equipment such as copiers, print finishing machines, scanners, collators, guillotine cutters, folders, drilling, binding and stitching machines), and works with various software applications such as (Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office Suite) to produce print products.
Maintains adequate supply of production materials, notifying appropriate personnel when procurement of additional materials is required.
Performs preventive maintenance on digital presses and keeps up with current trends in the printing industry for possible inclusion.
