Summary

This job involves hands-on mechanical work to maintain and operate equipment in a hydroelectric power plant, including turbines, generators, and piping systems, while ensuring everything runs safely to support water management in the western U.S.

Key Requirements

Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Power Systems Journeyman (Mechanical).

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 02/27/2026. Major Duties:

- Performs the mechanical maintenance and operation of a hydroelectric powerplant, dam, transmission lines, switchyards, and facilities.

- Performs mechanical maintenance on turbines, generators, motors, pumps, valves, pipes, pen-stocks, and compressors, etc.

- Operates gantry, bridge, mobile cranes and hoists, moving, dismantling, assembling, overhauling, and repairing of hydroelectric plant machinery and related equipment.

- Uses oxyacetylene, arc, arc-air, tungsten inert gas (TIG) and metal inert gas (MIG) equipment when welding, cutting, or soldering.

- Performs pipe fitting work on air, water, gas, oil, hydraulic, and refrigeration piping. - Responsible for the safe use and maintenance of tools and equipment.

Works safely, which includes following safety measures such as lockout/tagout and job hazard analysis procedures.
