Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a police officer who handles and trains explosive detection dogs to search for bombs, drugs, and other threats in buildings, vehicles, and public areas on naval installations.

You'll respond to emergencies, conduct patrols, and maintain the dogs' health and skills while documenting incidents.

It's a good fit for someone with law enforcement experience, a passion for working with animals, and the physical fitness to handle high-stress situations in a military setting.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 level in federal or equivalent service

Full Job Description

You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER (HANDLER/TRAINER) of NAS JRB FT WORTH SEC DET.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

1) Conducting inspections of buildings and vehicles utilizing dog to locate explosive devices; 2) Conducting preliminary and support requests to search out narcotic substances, apprehend, and take into custody suspected violators; 3) Performing on/off leash obedience and controlled aggression in congested areas; 4) Responding to emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service during watch; 5) Providing care, maintenance, and training to Explosives Detection Dog (EDD) in accordance with instructions and guidelines; and 6) Conducting checkpoints and roadblocks as directed in effort to reduce criminal activity.

  • You will serve as a Working Dog Handler in a law enforcement environment.
  • You will Conduct searches for criminal activity in buildings, vehicles, open areas, and common spaces onboard and off station assigned installations.
  • You will inspect vehicles and personal property for unauthorized weapons, explosive devices, and suspicious packages.
  • You will draft documents (e.g., detailed reports, forms, citations) to record law enforcement incidents.
