Summary

This job is for a shift supervisor in the Army's police force at Fort Hood, Texas, where you'll lead a team of officers in patrolling, enforcing laws, investigating crimes, and ensuring safety on the military installation.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: preventing, detecting, and investigating accidents, crimes, and misconduct and apprehending violators, assisting citizens in emergency situations and maintaining order, protecting life, property and the civil rights of individuals, and assisting in the prosecution of criminals..

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Serve as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
  • Exercise search and apprehension authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved.
  • Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Operates motor vehicle which may involve high speed pursuit of suspects.
  • Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
  • Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.
  • Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the police force. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
