This National Guard position is for a POLICE OFFICER, Position Description Number D2156000 and is part of the Oregon National Guard 173rd Fighter Wing, National Guard.

Areas of Consideration: Area 1 - Current permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ANG. Area 2 - Current permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ANG.

Area 3 - Current service members in the Oregon ANG. Area 4 - Individuals in the active duty US Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard.

Area 5 - US Citizens eligible to meet the military requirements for membership in the Oregon ANG.

GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The primary purpose of Police Work, is to lead, manage, and perform security force activities in direct support of the United States Nuclear Enterprise; weapon systems and physical security; law and order; military working dog; combat arms; and area security operations.

The work directs the control and operations of firing ranges; and inspects, repairs, and maintains ground weapons.

Enforce laws, maintains law and order, preserves the peace, and protects life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of military installations.

To Qualify for GS-0083-08: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-0083-07) that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.

Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

To Qualify for GS-0083-07: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-0083-06) that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.

Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

To Qualify for GS-0083-06: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-0083-05) that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.

Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

OTHER SERIES QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTIVE FACTORS: 1. Current U.S. citizenship, naturalized citizen or permanent resident. 2.

Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with selective service. 3.

Must possess a valid state driver's license to operate government motor vehicles (GMV) in accordance with AFI 24-301, Vehicle Operations. 4.

Never convicted of domestic violence IAW the Lautenberg Amendment. 5.

No history of excessive alcohol use or arrested in the past two years for two or more alcohol related incidents regardless of disposition, except when proven not guilty. 6.

No more than one active wage garnishment for delinquency. 7. No more than two delinquent charge off/collection (>= 30 days) payments within last two years. 8.

Must not have used, distributed, or manufactured illicit narcotics or been arrested for any narcotics use, distribution or manufacturing. 9.

Have not sniffed or used a substance to obtain an altered consciousness state from aerosol spray, lighter fluid, petro chemical, adhesives, Freon, or any other chemical for a purpose not intended for use.

10. Qualified to bear firearms according to AFI 31-117, "Arming and Use of Force by Air Force Personnel". 11.

No acts of larceny, wrongful appropriation, robbery, burglary, housebreaking, misconduct in combat defined in UCMJ Articles 99-106, or any act that harmed or had the potential to harm the physical safety or well-being of animals to include Military Working Dogs.

12. Never convicted by a civilian court of a Category One, Two, or Three offense, nor exceeded the accepted number of Category Four offenses.

The Category Three and Four traffic offenses alone are not disqualifying.

Note: Categories of offenses are described and listed in AFI 36-2002, "Regular Air Force and Special Category Accessions, Uniform Guide List of Typical Offenses". 13.

No documented record of gang affiliation. 14. No fear of working around nuclear weapons or nuclear components. 15.

Position requires routine access to Secret material; and, a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) is required. 16. Must maintain an Air Force Network License.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: For Dual-Status Technician positions service affiliation under Title 32 USC 709 is required. Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements.

Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS.

Specific requirements are found in: references listed below, NGB Compatibility tables and your local Personnel section.

To determine the required education and/or certifications for each position's compatible and allowed military skill, refer to the Service specific military classification regulations.

For award and retention of the compatible position AFSCs, must maintain an Air Force Network License, according to AFI 33-115, Vol 2, "Licensing Network Users and Certifying Network Professionals".

Position Series and AFSC require routine access to Secret material or similar environment; therefore, award and retention of AFSC 3P0X1, completion of a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to AFI 31-501, Personnel Security Program Management, are mandatory.

Never convicted by a general, special, or summary courts-martial.

Never received non-judicial punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) which resulted in either reduction or suspended reduction in grade, or correctional custody for offenses involving substantiated drug abuse as defined in AFI 44-121, "Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment (ADAPT) Program".

If applicable, within three years prior to entry into military service, was never terminated from civilian employment for reasons of misconduct, theft, or alcohol use.

Pre-service cannabis/synthetic drug use cannot exceed nine times or used within one year of entrance into the 3P Career Field. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1.

To qualify for this series, a current physical and a cleared drug test are mandatory. 2.

Normal color vision and normal depth perception are required, as defined by current Air Force Medical Examinations and Standards Instructions 3.

Distance visual acuity correctable to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. 4. No speech disorder or noticeable communication deficiency as defined in AFI 48-123. Major Duties:

As a POLICE OFFICER, GS-0083-6/7/8, this position is located in an Air National Guard Wing, Mission Support Group, Security Forces Squadron.

The primary purpose of this position is to conduct formal combat arms training and maintenance activities for the Security Forces Squadron and tenant personnel.

Control and operate firing ranges; inspect, repair, and maintain ground weapons.

To enforce law, maintain law and order, preserve the peace, and protect life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of the military installation.

To oversee the work activities of Drill Status Guardsmen (DSG) assigned to the Security Forces Combat Arms function.

Performs Combat Arms Training.

Presents repetitive courses or designated blocks of longer courses and presents training material and instruction covering proper use of handguns, rifles, machine guns and other base defense/ground combat skills equipment, in accordance with approved lesson plans and course control documents.

Instruction may take place in outdoor or indoor training facilities and will require multiple police/combat agility skill demonstrations.

Instructor makes adjustments in presentation or other instructional methods to resolve common classroom problems, to include those of student motivation and communication, as well as, last minute agenda schedule or student changes, student problems, equipment malfunctions, or lack of supplies.

Uses training aids and devices in addition to those listed in the POI in a manner that enhances training outcome. Adjusts subject matter discussions to assure material is assimilated by all students.

Applies specialized subject matter knowledge in course instruction.

Maintains accountability and ensures security for weapons/ammunition/explosives utilized in the course of instruction in accordance with applicable Air Force Instructions.

May oversee the work activities of subordinates and Traditional Guardsmen. Trains employees in assigned duties and responsibilities. Assigns work, establishes priorities, and ensures technical quality of work products.

Manages and oversees the installation ground weapons training and maintenance program; serves as an instructor and inspects ground weapons.

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the installation s ground weapons training and maintenance program, incorporating safety requirements, and maintains adherence to safety regulations.

Promptly evaluates accidents to determine cause and ensure safety guidelines are followed and necessary precautions are taken to prevent further occurrences.

Performs self- inspections and presents detailed reports to senior leadership. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.

Monitors special environmental requirements, such as lead removal.

Coordinates with the local Civil Engineering Squadron personnel on various issues, to include development of a joint hazardous waste disposal site and procedures that comply with local environmental laws.

Monitors the environment for noise hazards, health problems, and all other safety hazards. Directs and monitors security/resources protection program and procedures.

Monitors explosive safety and munitions movement s safety procedures.

Notifies appropriate unit commanders of current no-shows rates and third time failures, initiates follow-up actions, and briefs data, as directed.

Oversees and assists with the maintenance and inspection of all ground weapons assigned to the installation or covered by host tenant support agreements.

Submits forecast and requisition for training weapons, equipment, tools, gauges, target material, and expendable items. Validates the annual munitions allocation product.

Develops and publishes local operating instructions (OIs) and reviews other directives for updates as needed. Prepares annual budget to ensure proper funding for program management.

Oversees establishing, updating, and maintaining office records of various types. Requisitions office supplies, printing support, and related material.

Conducts training classes for military and/or civilians to meet established training/qualification goals.

Determines training needs by analyzing requirements and comparing student individual skills with job standards to identify training requirements. As needed, reviews training course materials.
