About the Position: Serves as a Police Administrative Specialist for the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES), Police Records Section, performing a variety of duties relating to management and supervision of administrative and personnel services for law enforcement records and cases, resource management, personnel training records and budget.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes editing drafts of Police reports, tracking open case files and following up to bring the files to a close, establishing and maintaining Police records, or interpreting court adjudications received from Magistrate Court.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Investigations.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Customer Service Decision Making Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Reasoning Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • You will provide recommendations for regulations, studies, staff papers, and other documents related to operational issues and determine stated and implied tasks and their impacts on the organization’s mission and resources.
  • You will prepare and present written and verbal briefings for the Chief of Police (COP) and the Directorate based upon research and analysis of operational issues.
  • You will prepare Command Budget Estimate and the five year budget forecast for the Law Enforcement Division, consolidate all program objective memoranda across the directorate, and assist leadership in the development and execution of spend plans.
  • You will ensure compliance with the Individual Reliability Program requirements of AR 190-56 and reporting to Chief of Police and DES leadership as required.
  • You will review all DA Form 3975's for completeness and accuracy prior to shipping cases to the United States Army Criminal Records Center in accordance with AR 190-45.
  • You will coordinate with commanders on the Installation to ensure DA Form 4833's are completed on all investigations and a suspense system is in place to ensure their return.
