Full Job Description
Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems maintenance tasks in such areas as water/fuel operations at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. Assists other trades with tasks. Makes emergency, general repairs, and adjustments to facilities. Conducts inspections, plans layout and installation, assembles pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment. Installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers or water heaters, or fixtures such as sinks or toilets, using hand or power tools. Fills pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks. Engaged in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems or components. Tests circuit breakers, electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring of water circulation pumps, water meters, water heaters and other equipment or fixtures, using testing devices. Knowledgeable on all water distribution systems, backflows/cross connection, fire hydrant testing, oil water systems, septic tank, fuel system upkeep, outfall watershed maintenance.Keeps records of work assignments, based on job specifications and local building codes. Knowledge of safety practices, tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade. Ability to comprehend and understand / follow instructions, blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to perform arithmetic. Ability to communicate effectively.

Knowledge of facility /infrastructural plumbing systems. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Knowledge of water / sanitary sewer/storm water concepts and application skills. Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold). The use of a scissor lift might be required for daily maintenance along with lifting, climbing stairs/ladders, stooping and bending will be required. Ability to lift 70 lbs. and perform heavy labor. Some overnight travel/training may be required. Position involves on-call and call back / emergency on-call responsibility. .
