This entry-level planner role at Metro Nashville's Planning Department involves working at the front counter to help people with land development applications, like subdivisions and rezonings, by reviewing them, guiding applicants, and preparing reports for zoning decisions.

Greet individuals in the Development Services Center who need assistance with Planning matters and applications.Answer phone calls and questions and direct calls to appropriate department.Review subdivisions, re-zonings and other applications relating to the zoning code.Guide applicants through the development process.Write staff reports advising the Board of Zoning Appeals.Enter data in CityWorks to assist with tracking cases among many Metro Departments involved in Development Services for the City.Process payments for applications.Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in planning, or related field, from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related experience.ORMaster’s degree in planning or related field from an accredited college or university.Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.Note: Per Metro Ordinance No.

All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
