The Alaska Veterans & Pioneers Home in Palmer is recruiting for a Pioneers Home Administrator. This is a full-time partial exempt position with supervisory authority.


We’re Looking for a dynamic and experienced leader for the position of the Pioneers Home Administrator located in Palmer, AK.

Someone with a big heart, kindness, intelligence, and enthusiasm who wants to improve the quality of life for Alaskan elders through a team approach.

Ideally the successful candidate will have experience building and leading teams, interpreting and applying regulations, and have experience working with elders and the Veterans Administration.


The Pioneer Homes Administrator position plays a critical role in advancing the division's mission of providing elder Alaskans a home and community, celebrating life through its final breath.


This position is a member of an outstanding team and plays a vital role in providing person-centered care and support in a safe environment for up to seventy-nine (79) elder residents.

What You Will Be Doing: The Pioneers Home Administrator is the responsible authority for the overall operation, administration, and maintenance of the assisted living, long-term care Pioneer Home that is operated by the State of Alaska.

Focus will be on quality resident care, the growth, development, and empowerment of health care teams, and the promotion of assisted living philosophy and statutes.

The partially exempt service is established by statute and is subject to the state's classification and pay plans.

Employees appointed to partially exempt positions are exempt from the usual recruitment process and serve at the

discretion of the appointing authority. Partially exempt positions are not covered by the terms of a collective bargaining

agreement.

Positions in the partially exempt service are exempt from the recruitment processes required by AS 39.25.150 (3)(10).


Requirements

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
AND
Two years of experience supervising professional and assistive staff in any combination of health service program, such as a residential care facility, home health care service, hospital, doctor's office; social casework; and/or public or business administration;
AND
Eligibility for certification as a Level 1 Administrator from the Senior Living University, Assisted Living Administrator from the American College of Healthcare Administrators, or an equivalent health care administration certification program;
AND
21 years of age or older at time of application, per 7 AAC 75.230.

Substitution:
The following may substitute for the requisite education:

Four years of any combination of post-secondary education in one of the required fields (2.67 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) and professional experience working in a health service program such as a residential care facility, home health care service, hospital, doctor's office, or similar experience in social or community service management.

Qualifying experience may be met by prior service as a Pioneers' Home Assistant Administrator, Protective Services Manager, Community Mental Health Services Program Administrator, Health Practitioner, Nurse (includes Psychiatric, Corrections, and/or Public Health), Public Health Specialist, Health Program Manager, Medicaid Program Specialist, Social Services Program Administrator, and/or Social Services Program Coordinator with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

OR
  1. Completion of a Nursing Home Administrator-in-Training program.
OR
  1. Eligibility for licensure by the State of Alaska as a Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse and four years of nursing experience relevant to the care of the residents to be served.
There is no substitution for the requisite 2 years of supervisory experience; however, this experience may be gained concurrently with other qualifying experience.

Special Note:
Positions require the incumbent maintain certification as a Level 1 Administrator from the Senior Living University, Assisted Living Administrator from the American College of Healthcare Administrators, or an equivalent health care administration certification program. Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of certification will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Positions require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. Employees are required to be tested annually. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.

Positions in in this job class are in the Partially Exempt service in accordance with AS 39.25.120(c)(8).
