The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill a Juvenile Justice Counselor 1/2 position in Anchorage at the Mclaughlin Youth Center, Boys Treatment Unit.
What You Will Be Doing:
The Boys Treatment Unit, Intensive Substance Abuse program, is a long-term treatment program that provides an environment for treatment of juvenile offenders that is safe and secure for the offender and the community with a focus of working with youth who have been identified as having moderate to severe substance abuse history.
As a Juvenile Justice Counselor, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Alaskan youth.
You will influence, inspire, and transform the lives of juvenile offenders and their families through therapeutic programs that incorporate a restorative justice approach to community protection, and drives the youth’s accountability and development.
The meaningful relationships you build with the youth will allow you to contribute to delivering skills and knowledge in navigating life skills, anger management, drug and alcohol education, and more.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position is located in the McLaughlin Youth Center at 2600 Providence Drive, Anchorage. As a member of the Boys Treatment Unit, you will work inside a 24-hour secure facility, where shiftwork, holidays, weekends, and occasional overtime are required.

Juvenile Justice Counselor 1:

FLEXIBLY STAFFED This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 1 or 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience.
The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level of the position.
If filled at Level 1, promotion to the Level 2 will only occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class and final approval by supervisor.
