This job involves overseeing daily operations at a naval pier in San Diego, ensuring ships are safely managed, schedules are adjusted for issues like weather or emergencies, and tasks like refueling are supervised.
It's a hands-on role coordinating with ship officers and maintaining the waterfront to support Navy and visiting vessels.
A good fit would be someone with experience in maritime or port management who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
You will serve as a PIER OPERATIONS SPECIALIST in the PORT OPERATIONS PROGRAM of NB SAN DIEGO.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing maritime activities safely and efficiently by applying knowledge of port operations and organizational structures.
Performing port operations program functions and procedures, including interpreting and enforcing operation rules and standard practices.
Utilizing in-depth understanding of ship characteristics such as length, draft, mooring requirements, and special operation considerations.
Ensuring safe and efficient operations by assessing the impacts of tides and currents. Implementing approved methods to safeguard and stow equipment.
