Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team in a call center that helps Navy personnel manage the shipping, storage, and movement of their household goods during relocations.

You'll handle customer inquiries, resolve issues with shipments, ensure fair workload distribution among team members, and advise on government-funded moving options.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 in transportation regulations, personal property movement, and storage

  • Experience ensuring compliance with service tenders, contracts, and government regulations for transportation providers

Full Job Description

You will serve as a LEAD TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (CALL CENTER) in the Navy Household Goods (HHG) Personal Property Shipping Office (PPSO) Section of NAVSUP FLC SD GF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing work requiring the application of an extensive body transportation regulations, methods and practice to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard transportation support assignments and resolving a wide range of problems/issues related to the movement and storage of personal property.

In addition, experience investigating complaints or errors that require reconstructing and reconciling incomplete information, conducting extensive and exhaustive searches for required information, or performing actions of similar complexity.

Examples of specialized experience are as follows; 1) Experience performing a wide range of personal property shipment management functions including household good entitlements, personal property counseling, inbound and outbound shipment management, temporary storage and non-temporary storage; 2) Experience determining and advising on entitlements or procedures related to the type of quantity of personal property that can be moved at government expense, storage entitlements, mover's liabilities and prohibited items; 3) Serve as point of contact resolving problems and ensuing that the work of Transportation Providers and/or contactors engaged in the physical handling and movement of household goods comply with applicable service tenders, solicitations, contact specifications and other government regulations.

  • You will be responsible for ensuring that the work assignments are equitably distributed and carried out, ensure the timely accomplishment of the assigned workload and ensure that all employees on the team have sufficient work to keep them occupied.
  • You will research, compile, and evaluate data to identify patterns, causal factors and failures and determine solutions.
  • You will determine the underlying cause of discrepancies so that action can be taken to prevent future problems.
  • You will use a variety of communication, negotiating, and interviewing techniques to listen, understand, explain and resolve complex processes and procedures.
  • You will determine and advise on the various methods of movement, i.e. Government Bill of Landing (GBL), Personally Procured Move (PPM). etc.
