Requirements

In this role, you will provide expertise and guidance to department leaders regarding regulations, laws, policies, and practices involving pharmaceuticals and pharmacy benefit plans.

This includes examining regulated organizations’ business practices as well as evaluating whether formulary design and specialty drug placement are based on nationally recognized medical standards, consistent with applicable governmental guidelines, and reflect current medical and scientific evidence.

Work involves advising and assisting department staff reviewing network adequacy, transparency reports, contract provisions, and related items; contributing to the development of regulatory guidance; and providing technical assistance and guidance in the interpretation and application of regulations and procedures.

You will also be expected to investigate complaints and complete special projects as assigned.

Effective communication is paramount for engaging with regulated entities and their representatives, collaborating with the agency’s legislative affairs office, and coordinating with the agency’s communications office.

Your work will help entities maintain or return to compliance, help legislators anticipate the effectiveness of proposed legislation, and help regulated entities, pharmacies, community groups, and consumers stay informed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a licensed pharmacist dispensing medication and counseling patients on prescription and over the counter medications.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires, at time of hire, possession of a valid license to practice pharmacy as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.

Other Requirements:
