Full Job Description

You will serve as a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Division Code 07 of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating and implementing policies and procedures for the personnel security program within an organization to provide advice or recommendations in relation to security clearances.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a technical advisor on Personnel Security rules, regulations, and procedures for Trident Refit Facility Bangor (TRFB), Department Security Personnel, as well as tenant commands, ships force and contractor.
  • You will serve as an advisor/liaison between the Office of Personnel Management, Federal Investigation Processing Center, the DON Central Adjudication Facility, the Defense Investigative Service, TRFB management and personnel staff members.
  • You will directly administer all functions associated with processing TRFB employees for security clearances, including initiation of appropriate investigations, and recommendations for approval or denial of emergency access.
  • You will provide direct assistance to subordinates through internal training and counseling on all aspects of their responsibilities with the program office.
  • You will conduct in-depth personnel security interviews to obtain details related to information associated with security clearance eligibility criteria.
  • You will administer the maintenance, protection, and destruction procedures of Privacy Act sensitive investigative materials associated with security clearance processing.
  • You will prepare written articles on security policies and procedures and issues for publication and distribution throughout TRFB.
