Requirements

As an Equipment Operator Trainee with PennDOT, you will be integral to maintaining the safety and functionality of our roadways, particularly during the demanding winter months when effective snow plowing is crucial. Your role encompasses not only snow removal but also significant contributions to various construction projects, where your expertise directly influences the infrastructure and safety of the traveling public. Each day presents unique challenges that require physical labor, underscoring the importance of collaboration and commitment among team members.

Beyond operating heavy machinery, you will also be responsible for performing minor repairs and conducting routine preventative maintenance on your equipment and trucks. This position requires diligent record-keeping, as you will complete daily logs and reports to monitor equipment usage and maintenance history. Such documentation is essential for ensuring operational efficiency and promoting accountability within the team. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Dual shifts, overtime, and travel may be required.
• Work schedule is subject to change due to weather or seasonal requirements.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
• All employees must possess an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
• All positions require employees to possess an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work.
• This position requires the ability to demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.

Additional Requirements:

• This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
