Requirements

We seek qualified applicants for a part-time Passenger Vehicle Operator Sub position. Under the overall guidance of the appointed supervisor, and depending on the specific program area, assists participants at Senior Centers or Adult Day Centers. This role involves transporting clients to and from various centers; aiding clients in boarding and exiting vehicles; program support may encompass participation in small to large groups (both indoors and outdoors) in activities such as crafts, exercise, games, and audio-visual presentations; assisting with day trips; and providing support to clients in dressing, toileting, hygiene, meal consumption, hydration, ambulation, and with meals; or special event assistance which includes setting up furniture, collecting program fees, and conducting facility safety inspections. PVOs are required to possess a commercial driver's license that includes a passenger endorsement and may occasionally need to be available for driving at short notice. Successful candidates should have strong communication skills, be able to work in a team, have excellent customer service skills, and perform well in a dynamic environment.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
• Various sites.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provides transportation for clients as per the schedule or when designated drivers are unavailable; operates the wheelchair lift and adheres to wheelchair tie-down protocols; and maintains essential client documentation.
• Ensures the upkeep of the vehicle and its records; performs pre-trip inspections and maintains daily logs; organizes routes and schedules; and verifies that standard and safety equipment is present in the vehicle and functioning properly.
• Assists with planning activities for clients.
• Gathers and manages fees for senior center programs in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Performs safety evaluations of indoor facilities as well as outdoor grounds and structures. Informs the appropriate staff about required maintenance and repairs.
• May carry out additional critical job responsibilities pertinent to the specific role and departmental assignment.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information

Must undergo criminal and DMV background checks and complete a pre-employment drug screen prior to hire. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required. Annual reviews of driving records may be conducted to ensure ongoing qualification. A CDL (Class C with Passenger Endorsement) learner's permit is required within 3 months, and a license must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Must comply with the DOT regulations and Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.

First Aid/CPR/AED required within 60 days after hire. OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training required within 30 days of hire. Must provide Sworn Disclosure Statement before hire. TB test required no earlier than 30 days before or no later than seven days after hire.
