Summary

This part-time role at the South Carolina Fire Academy involves helping develop and manage training programs and tests for firefighters, including handling paperwork, data entry, and supporting on-site and remote exams.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with Curriculum and Fire Service personnel to research, develop and implement accredited level cognitive and manipulative testing.
  • You will work with the testing coordinator to process accredited level course packages.
  • You will perform duties of data entry, creating text boxes, issuing certificates and updating student transcripts.
  • You will assist with remote and on-site testing for accredited level testing.
  • You will act as a liaison between subject matter experts and curriculum and accreditation to develop skill sheets.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned to assist with accreditation.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fire service experience specific to accreditation.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in educational program development and testing.
  • Knowledge in firefighter training techniques and testing requirements.
  • Interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Ability to understand NFPA Professional Qualifications Standards and Job Performance Requirements and how to apply them to adequately to measure both cognitive and manipulative skills through testing.
  • Must have data entry and strong organizational skills

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (15 to 29 hours per week)
  • Daily, overnight and weekend travel may be required.
  • Must be able to stoop and lift to 50 pounds.
