Summary

  • Some of these opportunities may be up to 40 hours per week for up to 5 months of employment, while others may provide part-time coverage for less than 70 hours per month.
  • Shifts vary between 6 am to midnight, 7 days a week, and during the holidays.
  • These temporary positions are not eligible for County benefits.

This is a great opportunity to join Pierce County as a Parks/Grounds Maintenance Worker, with multiple temporary (Extra-Hire) positions available.

In this hands-on role, you will work alongside a supportive team of parks professionals in a variety of park settings and facilities.

Your work will help keep our community spaces welcoming and accessible through tasks such as mowing, trimming, landscaping, facility and trail maintenance, custodial duties, cleaning restrooms, and general upkeep.

You will also support rentals and special events by setting up and tearing down tables and chairs, and in large Park hosted events, assisting guests to ensure smooth operations, and performing tasks like vacuuming, changing trash cans, and picking up litter.

Core Daily Responsibilities:

The variety of work performed in this position includes a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks for grounds, buildings, structures, and equipment.

  • Perform general parks maintenance work such as, but not limited to weeding, trimming, and mowing.
  • Perform maintenance work, such as but not limited to facilities cleaning and custodial work.
  • Perform rental space assistance.
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in grounds keeping, including weeding, trimming, mowing, and facility maintenance
