Summary

This job is for a park technician at Hickory Knob State Resort Park in South Carolina, where you'll handle everyday maintenance like fixing buildings, caring for grounds, and operating equipment to keep the park running smoothly.

Full Job Description

Along the rolling, wooded shoreline of the 71,000-acre Strom Thurmond Reservoir, sits Hickory Knob, a full-service, lakeside South Carolina golf resort
and remote state park all rolled into one. Tucked away in a serene, remote location, the parks many amenities and recreational opportunities are a pleasant surprise for many. Hickory Knob operates an 18-hole championship golf course, buffet restaurant, skeet shooting, boat ramp, archery range, meeting facilities and more than 70 lodge-style rooms. This South Carolina golf resort is an ideal location for a family getaway, reunion or a business meeting or retreat.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of state parks to include repair and construction of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, groundskeeping and landscaping activities. Assists with the administration and the operation of a state park; assist park visitors.

1) Performs miscellaneous repairs and park improvements, to include carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping and grounds keeping.
2) Repairs and maintains motorized equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment. Keeps maintenance records.
3) Performs and directs clean-up and housekeeping activities to assure the attractiveness, cleanliness and safety of park grounds and facilities.
4) Assist in maintaining Park Swimming pool.
5) Assists with operation of the park by registering campers, completing related forms, and reports, performing routine patrol, working in retail sales area.
6) Assists in planning and scheduling the Park's maintenance program.
7) Practice and promote teamwork within the park and/or region, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
2) Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions; ability to perform simple arithmetic computation. Ability to operate a variety of power tools.
3) Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
