Requirements

In this position, you will engage in manual labor focused on the construction and maintenance of Raccoon Creek State Park. Your responsibilities will include repairing buildings and facilities using tools from various trades, such as carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing. You will also be tasked with constructing simple forms for concrete, mixing and placing cement, and finishing surfaces with masonry tools, in addition to building stone and block walls.

Ground maintenance will involve mowing, weed control, firewood management, litter collection, and transporting materials with dump trucks or pickups. Additional duties encompass cleaning grills, sweeping paved areas, digging holes and ditches, and maintaining drainage systems. Furthermore, you will be responsible for site preparation, seeding new turf areas, and planting and caring for trees and shrubs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, until November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires a Class C non-commercial driver’s license.
