Full Job Description

Conducts legal research. Creates reports and documents for attorneys. Assists in, and in less complex cases are responsible for, the preparation, summarization, and interpretation of legal documents and pleadings. Assist attorney with writing briefs, pleadings and other legal documents. Organizes and tracks case files. Uses existing files and a variety of other legal research resources to prepare information for pending cases. Identifies relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent materials. Evaluates information related to legal matters in public or personal records.

Provides paraprofessional legal work and administrative and clerical support to the General Counsel/Legal Division and the Chief Investigator/Investigative Division, to include creating reports and documents for attorneys.

Assists in the preparation and summarization of legal documents and pleadings. Uses existing files and other research resources to prepare information for pending cases.

Reviews and corrects legal documents and other written material to improve accuracy, readability, and fitness for its purpose, and ensures freedom from error, omission, inconsistency, and repetition.

  • Prepares and distributes materials, notices and agendas for Commission meetings; prepares Hearing Room for meetings and hearings; transcribes and maintains Commission meeting minutes; and provides general clerical support to members of the Commission as directed.
  • Transcribes and maintains advisory opinions and related documents; prepares hearing notices, subpoenas, orders and other legal documents related to hearings and appeals.
  • Coordinates applicable investigative policies and procedures; sets up investigative case files; prepares related correspondence; transcribes and maintains investigative reports and other legal documents pertaining to investigations.
  • Maintains the Hearing Roster and the Complaint Roster, tracks and maintains complaint logs for closed complaints.
  • Maintains Legal and Investigative Archives for the Commission.



  • Requirements

    A Paralegal Certificate or an Associate Degree in paralegal studies and work experience in providing administrative or paraprofessional support for an attorney(s) or legal office. A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for the Paralegal Certificate or Associate Degree.
