Full Job Description

The South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS) represents the public interest of South Carolina in utility regulation for the major utility industries - electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water/wastewater, and transportation - before the Public Service Commission (PSC), the court system, and state and federal regulatory bodies. Additionally, the ORS houses the state's Energy Office, Broadband Office, Equipment Distribution Program (EDP), and has responsibility for oversight of railroad safety and natural gas pipeline safety in South Carolina.

The EDP serves South Carolina residents who have trouble hearing or speaking on the phone. The equipment in our program includes specialized phones, cell phone accessories, alerting devices and a tablet. This position will assist in providing outreach for the products and services of the EDP. Job duties include:

  • Marketing and communications through public presentations, conferences and exhibits, office visits, meetings, etc.
  • Increasing program participation and awareness through research and development of marketing strategies.
  • Preparation of articles, presentations, and other program materials for promotion to target audiences.
  • Collect and summarize data to assist in determining trends and patterns.
  • Assist in compiling information and preparing activity reports.

Requirements

Must have experience utilizing American Sign Language and knowledge of telecommunications equipment. Communication skills to include writing and public speaking. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include Excel, Word, and Outlook. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the state independently is required.

Additional Information

  • All ORS employees are prohibited from owning equity in regulated utilities.
  • Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
