About the Role:

Under general supervision, the OSWW Field Ops. Program Coordinator II supports the Bureau of Regional and Laboratory Services’ Onsite Wastewater (OSWW) Program by providing leadership, guidance, and daily oversight to the program. In this role, you will oversee program operations where needed throughout the state, support customer service functions, and ensure the consistent and accurate processing of OSWW applications and permitting documentation. As a primary point of contact for internal and external customers, you'll assist with ePermitting processes and help maintain program efficiency by monitoring application workflows and processing times. As a representative of the bureau, you will provide technical and administrative support, foster positive working relationships across regions, and contribute to the program’s mission of protecting public health and supporting environmental stewardship.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide leadership to the Onsite Wastewater (OSWW) Program Coordinator I team as the program’s front-line supervisor.
  • Provide back-up customer service support and technical assistance to OSWW customers statewide.
  • Communicate directly with customers to provide application status updates; maintain working knowledge of processing time frames across the state.
  • Assist internal and external customers with ePermitting data entry; perform data entry for Approvals to Operate, including final inspection requests and inspection details.
  • Serve as the point of contact and administrative reviewer for retail food service OSWW applications. Assist the Customer Support Section Manager in communicating and processing these specialized applications.
  • Perform other duties as required, including attending periodic staff meetings and training.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences or a related technical field; or
  • A high school diploma or GED and four (4) years or relevant environmental or public health experience, with a minimum of one (1) year program specific experience

Additional Requirements:
  • Must have a valid state driver's license and the ability to operate state-owned vehicles
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to accurately input data into data systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, industry, and government officials
  • Ability to successfully complete assigned technical coursework and pass any job-related tests within the probationary or trial period

Qualifications

  • Data management skills
  • Familiarity with onsite wastewater methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and/or ePermitting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Supervisory, leadership, and/or customer service experience

Additional Information

  • Must be able to travel throughout the state to complete job duties
  • Overnight travel, weekend, after hours, and holiday work may be required.
  • Position is subject to 24/7 callback due to emergencies.
  • Duties may include assisting with customer support needs across multiple regions based on workload.
