Job Description

Summary

This job involves using advanced data analysis and research methods to help the Military Sealift Command make smart decisions about ship operations, resource planning, and process improvements.

You'll design studies, analyze information, and create reports to support big-picture strategies for the Navy.

It's a good fit for someone with a background in math or analytics who enjoys solving complex problems in a team setting, especially if you have experience in government or logistics.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-07 level (for GS-09) or GS-05 level (for GS-07), including planning and coordinating studies, researching data, and presenting findings

  • You will Serve as an Operations Research Analyst (ORA) applying state of art/ information technology techniques to Military Sealift Command issues in support of senior-level decision makers.
  • You will identify the need for analysis, formulating proposals for original studies, and present and justifies such proposals to appropriate authorities within in the organization.
  • You will maintain liaison with operations research analysts engaged in similar activities.
  • You will plan, direct, and coordinate special studies, including study design, research, data, analysis, presentation and documentation, that support strategic planning initiatives and command wide priorities.
  • You will use and/or develop OR tools, models, and techniques in response to evolving issues and complex analytic challenges.
  • You will perform analysis on metrics, forecasting, resource allocation, performance measurement, scheduling, supply chain management, business case analysis, budget preparation, forecasting analysis, internal MSC processes and ship operations.
  • You will lead and participate in process improvement initiatives by applying a focused approach using recognized continuous process improvement methodology and tools.
