Job Description

Summary

This job involves coordinating inmate records and transfers between South Carolina's prison system and other states or federal facilities, ensuring proper processing of detainers and returns for inmates serving sentences elsewhere.

It requires handling evaluations, reports, and security reviews to manage these interstate agreements smoothly.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant inmate records/classification experience, OR associate's degree with two years of such experience, OR high school diploma with four years of such experience
  • Knowledge of other jurisdiction (OJ) and interstate agreement on detainers (IAD) programs
  • Ability to process and monitor inmate records for those housed in other jurisdictions
  • Skills in handling requests for inmate returns and disposition of warrants under IAD
  • Experience with six-month evaluations and security/custody reviews
  • Proficiency in initiating transfers between state and federal agencies
  • Capability to maintain and submit monthly monitoring reports

Full Job Description

  • Serve as the other jurisdiction (OJ), interstate agreement on detainers (IAD) program coordinator for central classification.
  • Process and monitor records for inmates with South Carolina sentences housed in other jurisdictions.

  • Monitor and process the requests for return to other states or jurisdictions for the disposition of warrants governed under the IAD.

  • Process six (6) month evaluations.

  • Enter and approve security and custody reviews in addition to initiating transfers between state and federal agencies.

  • Maintain and submit monthly monitoring reports on other jurisdictions and IAD.

  • Coordinate the return to SCDC of inmates who have completed their sentences in other states or federal facilities.

  • Other related duties as required.

Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree and inmate records/classification experience;

OR

  • An associate's degree and two (2) years of inmate records/classification experience;

OR

  • A high school diploma and four (4) years of inmate records/classification experience.
