Requirements

In this position, you will support the Compliance Section's functions within the Division of Compliance and Data Administration, part of the Bureau of Oil and Gas Planning and Program Management under the Office of Oil and Gas Management at the Department of Environmental Protection. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and analyzing records and data to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory standards, conducting compliance and enforcement activities, and making recommendations for the development and enhancement of data management systems. Additionally, you will propose changes to rules, regulations, and compliance policies, evaluate regional programs for consistency and progress towards the Office's goals, create technical guidance and procedural manuals, provide training for the oil and gas program, and prepare materials for various publications at national, state, and local levels.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional environmental protection experience and four years of technical experience in well design, drilling, completion, production, plugging, or underground storage operations in the oil or natural gas industry; or
  • One year of experience as an Environmental Protection Specialist or Environmental Protection Compliance Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience as an Oil and Gas Inspector, Water Quality Specialist, or Solid Waste Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of professional environmental protection experience and a bachelor's degree in biological, physical, or environmental sciences, or closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
