Job Description

Summary

This job is for an office assistant in a human services department in McDowell County, West Virginia, where you'll handle tasks like answering phones, managing mail, typing documents, filing records, and operating basic office machines while supporting teams that help with income maintenance and work programs.

It's a rotating role covering receptionist, switchboard operator, and file clerk duties, with mandatory overtime as needed.

  • Willingness to perform mandatory overtime and rotate through receptionist, switchboard operator, and file clerk roles

Full Job Description

Under general supervision.

Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and complaints, and gives general information to caller; Receives, sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail; May type a variety of documents from written or voice recorded dictation; May compile records and reports: Serves as receptionist and telephone operator: Operates office equipment such as adding machine, calculator, postage meter, ETC.: Maintains, processes, sorts and files documents alphabetically; Employee will be the switchboard operator, Receptionist and file clerk on a rotating basis.

Will be required to process incoming and outgoing mail on a rotating basis. Basic knowledge of office equipment is necessary (fax, copier, mail machine).

Employee will assist all sections of the office with clerical duties. These sections include: Income maintenance and WV works.


Mandatory Overtime is an essential function of this position

Qualifications

Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
