Full Job Description

You will serve as a NUCLEAR MECHANICAL SYSTEMS INSPECTOR (SHIPS) SUPERVISOR I in the QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT (Code 130) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • You will supervise Federal Wage Systems (FWS) Inspection programs with direct responsibility for supervising nonsupervisory Inspectors of mechanical, piping and structural systems on nuclear reactor plant systems to accomplish inspection functions.
  • You will lead, mentor and train subordinate inspectors in a positive and professional manner.
  • You will explain technical subjects and be familiar with mechanical systems associated with naval nuclear reactor plants.
  • You will head the inspection unit.
  • You will be responsible for overall production, safety and efficiency of the subordinate members of the working unit.
  • You will coordinate priorities and deadlines with numerous project and production personnel to maximize efficient use to meet the Shipyard's needs.
  • You will identify and resolve problems as they arise and propose solutions to unusual and complex problems to the Nuclear Inspection Division Management.
  • You will be responsible and carry out Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and communicating support of these policies to subordinates.
  • You will perform mechanical and structural processes, product and test inspections on assigned refueling and overhaul work.
