Full Job Description

You will serve as a NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the NUCLEAR MATERIAL ORDERING BRANCH of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

SALARY RANGE: GS-12: $101,092 - $129,129 GS-11: $88,599 - $111,994 GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer, applying nuclear engineering methods and techniques to develop the criteria or procedures necessary to resolve technical problems for effective and efficient submarine nuclear propulsion systems maintenance operations.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a as a professional engineer, applying nuclear engineering methods and techniques to the control or testing of critical equipment and materials for effective and efficient submarine nuclear propulsion systems maintenance operations.

  • You will guide and exercise technical control over shipyard work to ensure the safety and economy of the submarine propulsion plant.
  • You will interpret engineering tasks to personnel.
  • You will carry out a continuing review of engineering and production work to ensure the requirements for control of the nuclear propulsion plant are met.
  • You will participate in conferences as a representative of the division.
  • You will review drawings related to the nuclear propulsion plant for technical adequacy.
  • You will provide engineering support to the supply program for the procurement, inspection, and acceptance of critical nuclear reactor plant equipment and materials.
  • You will perform the advance technical planning functions necessary to prepare the shipyard for forthcoming availabilities and overhaul work on the propulsion plants of nuclear-powered submarines.
