Minimum Qualifications:

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.Examination:The examination will consist of a review of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to assist kitchen staff by performing duties related to food preparation, serving of meals and maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of entire kitchen, dining and storage areas.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists kitchen staff in preparation of meals, snacks and special diet items; operates kitchen equipment in accordance with safety procedures to prepare, slice, bake, cook and mix food; cooks and stores food in accordance with all food safety regulations.
Assists kitchen staff in serving meals: prepares serving line by stocking all supplies necessary including utensils, dishes and condiments; serves clients using correct portion control; prepares for delivery of meals to off site location.
Assists kitchen staff in maintaining orderliness and cleanliness of entire cafeteria including kitchen, dining area and storage area; operates dishwasher using proper chemicals and water temperature; stores products, dishes, cooking equipment; removes food fom serving line and cleans line; drains and cleans all sinks; and surfaces using proper cleaning, degreasing and sanitizing solutions; records temperature of refrigerator and freezer; empties trash cans; processes cardboard for recycling.
Assists customers in cafeteria: delivers trays and retrieves food trays from customers; provides assistance as needed, carries drinks, obtains meals, wipes spills to maintain a safe environment and other duties as requested.

Data Utilization: Requires the ability to determine, calculate, tabulate, or summarize data/information, following a prescribed plan requiring the exercise of some judgment. Includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations.
Human Interaction: Requires the ability to exchange information for the purpose of clarifying details within well established policies, procedures and standards.
Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to use simple tools, equipment or machinery requiring little or no training.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. May include counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring.
