Job Description

Summary

This job involves driving trucks and operating forklifts to transport supplies and materials around a military installation in Oklahoma, including picking up items and loading/unloading cargo.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.

Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job.

Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Effort: May exert moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on trucks and in climbing on the trucks to load or tie down cargo.

Handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally heavier objects with assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment.

Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting and stopping the fork lift truck and raising, lowering and tilting the loads being moved.

Working Conditions: Operator is required to work outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather conditions while loading and unloading vehicles.

Vehicle is operated in all types of traffic and weather and there is the possibility of accidents. Must wear appropriate safety equipment as required.

Working conditions are a normal part of the job and are considered in the evaluation.

A VALID COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE IS REQUIRED IF THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN OFF THE INSTALLATION AND IS EQUIPPED WITH AIR BRAKES. Major Duties:

  • Operates trucks, pickups and other vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of less than 38,000 pounds both on and off the installations, over public roads in all types of traffic and in congested industrial areas.
  • Operates special purpose transporter vehicles to pick up and/or deliver local purchase and routine items from central receiving, local customer turn-ins, various material and supplies throughout the installation.
  • Receives priority requests, bin notices, etc., selects material from locations and verifies material by matching stock number, condition code, quantity, unit of issue with source document.
  • Operates standard forklifts as well as loads and unloads by hand or with material handling equipment.
