The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for current and/ or future openings which may include part-time or full-time positions.
Examination ProcessA civil service examination will be conducted in accordance with the Civil Service Rules of the city of Las Vegas. The supplemental questions are the examination.

Essential Functions:
Operates a motor sweeper in a variety of traffic and weather conditions in assigned area.Maintains, cleans and removes debris from business districts, alleys and residential streets; removes hazardous materials from the roadways or calls for assistance to remove hazardous materials.Operates and secures assigned vehicles and other assigned equipment; performs and documents pre-trip inspection; maintains vehicles and equipment in clean and fueled condition.Cleans and performs preventive maintenance on construction and maintenance equipment.Fills sweeper water tank from a fire hydrant regularly.Periodically checks all gauges of both engines for proper readings.Dumps sweeper at various dump stops.Utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed.Maintains a variety of automated and manual logs, records and files.Marginal Functions:Provides street sweeping for special events.Responds to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provides information within the area of assignment; resolves complaints in an efficient and timely manner.Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications Experience:Two years of increasingly responsible equipment operations experience.Training:Equivalent to graduation from high school.Licenses and Certifications:Possession of an appropriate, valid Class B commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement on the date of application, and maintenance thereafter.Special Requirements:May be required to respond to emergencies such as storms or sewer overflow.
