Summary

This job involves reviewing and auditing military pay records for retirees and annuitants in the U.S.

Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS-0545-7/8, Military Pay Technician (Auditor) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, PPC RETIREE and ANNUITANT SERVICES BRANCH in TOPEKA, Kansas.

To qualify at the GS-7 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Performing technical audits of military pay records, verifying accounts, and initiating corrective actions for discrepancies.

Reviewing the work of other technicians, providing guidance, and recommending corrections to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.

Monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work to ensure quality and adherence to procedures.

Coordinating or providing training to other team members on specific tasks, job techniques, and regulations related to military pay.

You will serve as a/an Military Pay Technician (Auditor) and be responsible for auditing closed military pay records for retirees and annuitants, and assisting the work of other Military Pay Technicians.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Serve as a senior pay technician to audit and assist the work of other Military Pay Technicians.

Audit and review work completed by others, providing guidance and recommending corrections to ensure accuracy.

Monitor and report on the status and progress of work, ensuring that established methods and quality standards are met.

Perform technical audits of closed military pay records for retirees and annuitants, which requires strict attention to detail to verify accounts and initiate corrective actions.

Amend or reject work that does not meet established standards and refer questions or complex problems to a supervisor.

Coordinate and arrange training activities, instructing team members on specific tasks and job techniques, and provide on-the-job training to new team members.

Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
