This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, 1050 Ribaut Road, Beaufort, SC 29902.

As a Mental Health Professional I - Access/Mobile Crisis, you will provide comprehensive mental health assessments and crisis management for the Beaufort Clinic and center-wide as appropriate/needed. Services include consultation, triage, assessments for patients being discharged from local hospitals, crisis intervention services and short-term case management. This position will also serve as the liaison for Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center to law enforcement entities, probate courts, and community resources within the catchment area.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I - Access/Mobile Crisis

Direct Service: Provide direct care in clinic access and mobile crisis services.

Provide recovery-oriented services such as Assessment, Group Therapy,Individual/Family Therapy, Crisis Management and other services on an as-needed basis.

Serve as liaison with in-patient and /or other health centers when client isreceiving services from those centers; coordinate with care coordination services Acts as part of the MC team in assuring coverage during working and after hours.

Liaison: Assist with the Mobile Crisis Program over entire coverage area.

Assist with follow-up in relation to MC contacts coordinating with Clinic Directors,assigned clinicians and medical staff as needed.

Assist as liaison with Beaufort County Probate Court and LE ensuring communicating with them on issues that ariseprimarily in the Beaufort area and as needed/appropriate over the entire center coverage area.

Assist as liaison with Beaufort Memorial Hospital and other hospitals inin coordinating care and relaying information.

Participate in development of community resources and relationships related to coordination of care and communityoutreach.

  • Coordination of Services: With direction/coordination with Clinic Director and Access/MC supervisor, schedule appointments with clinical staff and medical staff
    as needed/appropriate related to access and crisis services.
  • Support Services: Serve as a lead clinician assisting Beaufort Clinic Director and MC Supervisor as needed/appropriate in support of clinic and Access/MC
    services.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain client service records in accordance with DBHDD QA standards; Adheres to OMH, Medicare, Medicaid and other Insurance
    regulations regarding documentation and billing of clinical services, procedures, and regulations.
  • Corporate Compliance: Demonstrate thorough understanding of corporate compliance issues. Shall comply with the DBHDD and Center compliance Plan and all
    legal responsibilities and requirements in performing job duties.
  • This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

    Requirements

    • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
    Additional Requirements
    • State licensure or licensure eligible preferred such as: LPC or LISW-CP

    Qualifications

    • Two years of post-graduate experience in a clinical counseling program.
    • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

    Additional Information

    Post hire, employees must have:
    • Knowledge of the theories and practices of psychopathology and psychotherapy necessary to treat persons with mental illness in a community outpatient setting.
    • Ability to assess, diagnose and plan appropriate treatment/services/support for patients and their family members.

    This position is based in Beaufort. This position is center wide for Mobile Crisis coverage and covers a multi-county area, which includes Beaufort, Colleton, Jasper, Hampton, and Allendale.

    Position requires travel within the area and requires on-call/after-hours coverage for Mobile Crisis services.

    In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care.

    This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience.
