Example: This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Greater Greenville Mental Health Center, 20 Powderhorn Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

Under general supervision provides screening, assessment and other mental health services for individuals and/or families experiencing mental health, emotional disturbance and/or substance abuse problems. Coordinates care with professional staff, both medical and non-medical, including partnering agencies and/or other systems of care.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I:

  • Provide an array of out-patient mental health services, crisis management, individual and group therapeutic interventions to adults with serious mental illness, emotional disturbance /or co-morbid substance abuse disorders.

  • Provide screening and clinical assessments for persons experiencing mental health, emotional disturbance and/or substance abuse issues. Work with other professionals to develop an initial plan of care and coordinates services with other community service providers.

  • Document all clinical work in accordance with OMH Quality Assurance standards.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
Additional Requirements:

In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care.

This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience.

  • Qualifications
