This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Catawba Community Mental Health Center (CCMHC), 205 Piedmont Blvd, Suite 100, Rock Hill, SC 29730

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Staff, employee will provide therapeutic and emergency services to adult patients at the York County Detention Center.

Will be embedded at York County Detention Center and supervised on site by Detention Center Nurse Manager.

Will ensure interaction as needed with other community agencies and maintain positive and professional relationships.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I / York County Detention Center

  • Provide medically necessary clinical services including but not limited to assessment, individual, group therapy, and crisis intervention to a targeted population of adult patients incarcerated at the York County Detention Center. Services will be provided at the Detention Center.
  • Attend and participate in clinical treatment team meetings and staff patients with CCMHC MD. Pursue continuing education and training.

    Maintain positive professional relationships with CMHC staff and community agencies as well as patients and their families.

    Work to overcome the stigma of mental illness and mental health services by providing education, training and support services to the community at large.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by York County Detention Center and/or Catawba CMHC leadership.


For MHP Student Loan Repayment:

This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.



Requirements

  • Master’s degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences.

Additional Requirements

Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to see, hear at normal volumes, stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend and climb at least two (2) flights of stairs.

Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in patient areas for long periods. Must be able to work with repetitive patient behaviors. Possible exposure to blood/body fluids.



Qualifications

  • Mental Health Experience
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Additional Information

Post hire, employees must: (use this verbiage if applicable)

  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
  • Have knowledge of nursing procedures, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices, basic human anatomy.
  • Be able to operate a state vehicle.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule and know this position is considered essential and may be called back during crises / disasters/ emergencies.
  • Be able to deliver services in the community and patients' homes.
  • Perform all job duties and provide all services and documentation in compliance with CARF, OMH, CCMHC, Quality Assurance, Compliance, HIPAA, Transcultural and Productivity Standards, Policies and Procedures
