This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, 151 Dillon Drive, Hilton Head, SC 29928.

As the Mental Health Professional, working under the direct supervision of the Clinic director for the Hilton head Office, you will provide recovery-oriented services to a population with severe and persistently mental illness in the clinic and in the community.

Services will be delivered according to the guidelines established by the DBHDD.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional:

  • Provide direct clinical services that includes, assessments, individual/family therapy, crisis management, group therapy and other services as needed to an identified population of patients with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Provide consultation/education activities and case management services on behalf of patients served to community agencies as requested, under the supervision of the Clinic Director of the Hilton Head office.

    Link patients to primary care physicians, liaison with in-patient facilities and assist with discharge.

  • Attend and participate in staffing with treatment team. Supervision with Supervisor. Staff cases with physicians, ensuring all patients’ records of treatment are available. Develop treatment goals and objectives with patients. Staff with supervisor daily if patient is in crisis.

  • Provide consultation and assists in coordination of hospital admissions and placement of patients served. Provide follow-up after discharge.

  • Document all contact with patients, families, significant others and agencies according to QA Standards

This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

Coastal Empire CMHC is an approved site of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000.00 to employees of NHSC- approved sites.

You must be a US Citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans.

There is a two year service commitment required as well. Confirmation of qualifying for this loan repayment program is the responsibility of every applicant - we cannot guarantee your qualification.

Requirements
