Requirements

As a Medical Records Assistant, you will be responsible for the meticulous management of inmate medical records. Your work will involve creating and maintaining accurate and up-to-date physical and electronic files. This role also requires the seamless compilation and transfer of medical records and involves timely communication with health care staff regarding the discharge status of inmates who are paroled or moved to other facilities. In this position, you will contribute to the effectiveness of the inmate health care system by upholding the highest standards of record-keeping.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of clerical experience maintaining or reviewing medical records, transcribing dictated or recorded medical information, or conducting medical abstracting and coding; or
  • Graduation from an accredited medical secretarial, medical records, medical transcription, medical assisting, medical coding, or health information management program; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
