Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team in a naval shipyard's mechanical shop, where you'll plan and oversee maintenance, production projects, and facility upgrades to keep everything running smoothly and on budget.
It's a supervisory role focused on managing people, resources, and deadlines in a high-stakes environment.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in mechanical operations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to solve problems quickly while ensuring safety and compliance.
You will serve as a Mechanical Shop Supervisor in the Mechanical Shop, Production Resources Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience managing and overseeing projects and facility work and maintenance.
Experience making independent investigations of shop practices, procedures, and policies to identify deficiencies and direct corrective actions.
Experience with analytical management techniques, including production and material control, cost control and personnel management.
Experience planning and executing facility modernization, incorporating advancements in equipment, and ensuring that equipment and tooling are available and are provided when needed.
Experience communicating orally and in writing to resolve problems, initiate solutions, coordinate efforts, obtain information, and provide feedback to management.
