Specialized Experience Statement: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service.
Experience performing mechanical engineering duties and responsibilities in a repair program planning, alteration, upgrade, and renovation of all aspects of a mechanical systems and equipment, facilities condition assessments, and maintenance service and repair contracts for a major organization or institution.
Experience designing mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, controls, energy), and coordinating construction of these systems.

This position is located in the Facilities Management Division, National Gallery Of Art (NGA), Washington, DC, a organization providing a board range of facilities engineering and support services.
Duties for this position include: Serving as a Mechanical Engineer of the AFM Engineering Department of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.
The Engineering Department is responsible for providing facilities maintenance engineering and management services as well as developing and managing long and short-range facilities maintenance programs in support of the Gallery's mission.
Managing, coordinating and developing design, plans, and specifications for steam systems, plumbing systems, chilled water systems, asbestos removal, controls (including Direct Digital Control (DOC) applications), energy management systems and system balancing.
Preparing the scope of work for architect-engineer (A&E) contracts and reviewing the contractor's designs.
Serving as the technical advisor to AFM and Gallery engineers and technicians on complex mechanical design problems. Performing and directing engineering surveys.
These surveys at the project site determine the condition of mechanical systems and obtain the necessary data prior to initiating design.
Providing responsive technical consultative advice for solution of exigent problems encountered by AFM department heads and staff or customers as it relates to the specific features of mechanical engineering.
