Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping to design and analyze large-scale tests and studies for the Navy's advancement system, using math and statistics to improve exam methods and ensure data accuracy.

You'll work on research, data collection, and creating statistical programs to support educational and training programs.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a MATHEMATICAL STATISTICIAN in the NAVAL ADVANCEMENT CENTER DEPARTMENT of NETPDC.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing the principles, concepts, and methodology of mathematics and statistics, which includes graduate level work in statistics, in the mathematical and statistical aspects of large scale testing and studies; 2) Assisting in research, analysis, design, development, testing, and performing technical functions and information assurance; AND 3) Assisting in conducting studies and reports that provide statistical analysis and use analytical techniques.

  • You will assist in the design and conduct of studies aimed at improving methods and procedures in exam construction and advancement system.
  • You will develop flow chart procedures and methods in selecting, recording, and analyzing statistical data.
  • You will monitor computer produced compilations to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
  • You will conduct a thorough analysis for each operation necessary in the collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of statistical data to determine appropriate methods and techniques.
  • You will develop advanced Statistical Program for the Social Sciences (SPSS) statistical program construction and corresponding documentation as well as the operation of the computer systems.
