Full Job Description

You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Office, Naval Service Training Command of NSTC GREAT LAKES.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialize experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) develops processes to ensure all personnel information security functions meet all command requirements; 2) establishes procedures for processing requests for security clearances for military, civilian, and contractor personnel; 3) oversees matters pertaining to the classification, safeguarding, transmission, and destruction of classified information; and 4) reviews security clearance requests and similar related material for information that adversely reflects on the applicants loyalty or character Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0000/security-administration-series-0080/ Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

  • You will use access control systems to manage classification of materials.
  • You will analyze Personnel Security investigation documentation for validity in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • You will advise installation security specialist and agency officials on Personnel Security and suitability requirements
  • You will analyze personnel security and suitability theories and concepts to develop innovative improvements to the Personnel Security Program.
  • You will record billets in the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) database on a routine basis.
