Job Description

Summary

This job supports marketing efforts for Navy family services by creating promotional materials like flyers and brochures, managing website content, and handling administrative tasks in a military setting.

It's ideal for someone organized with basic design skills and familiarity with office software who enjoys helping service members and their families.

The role requires understanding military life challenges and using tools to produce quality information for the community.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 in federal or equivalent service, including marketing material production
  • Knowledge of Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) mission, programs, policies, and reporting requirements
  • Understanding of military lifestyle, challenges for service members and families, and related social services in military and civilian sectors
  • Skills in designing, developing, and producing marketing materials using graphics, desktop publishing, and calendar programs
  • Proficiency in basic web page administration and office automation software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics)
  • Ability to organize, edit, proofread marketing materials, review website information, and troubleshoot information systems
  • Experience providing administrative and clerical support, including answering questions on equipment usage and maintenance

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Possess knowledge of FFSC mission, functions, and programs and policies, regulations, procedures and reporting requirements; 2) Possess knowledge of the military lifestyle, the unique challenges faced by service members and their families, and the array of services available to address those issues along with knowledge of social service programs and agencies in the military and civilian sector, including policies, practices and interrelationships; 3) Possess knowledge of the techniques and principles needed to design, develop, organize and produce media quality marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, calendars and newsletter with skill in using a variety of graphics, calendar creator and desktop publishing programs is required; and 4) Possess knowledge of basic web page administration and various office automation software (word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, etc.) Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

  • You will organize, prepare, edit, and proofread a variety of marketing materials.
  • You will continuously review posted information of the Region's Quality of Life website.
  • You will investigate malfunctions associated with information systems.
  • You will answer questions and explain procedures relating to basic equipment usage and maintenance.
  • You will utilize multiple office automation software, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, to produce a wide variety of documents involving complex formats and extensive revisions.
  • You will provide supportive administrative and clerical work.
