Key Requirements

  • OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M. if related
  • Time-in-grade requirement: One year of Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-09) for current or recent Federal employees
  • Ability to coordinate program activities, evaluate needs for budgets, materials, and human resources
  • Experience providing motivation and direction to subordinate staff

Full Job Description

Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Manager Tour Operations.

You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.

Duty Location: Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Dams Office physically located at the Hoover Dam in Clark County, NV. Full time telework or remote work is not available for this position.

To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service managing (planning and evaluating) tour operations that involved oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to groups.

OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. if related.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 01/21/2026. Major Duties:

Manages all tour programs at the Hoover Dam Visitor Center. Coordinates program activities to provide high quality, informative tours to visitors.

Evaluates the need for budget, materials and human resources to support and oversee the Hoover Dam Visitor center. Provides motivation and direction to subordinate staff.

Promotes comprehensive customer focused feedback mechanisms to monitor the delivery of the service. Ensures the terms and ocnidtions of various contracts are administred and adhered to.
