Full Job Description

Position is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, and managing of all outreach-related activities and operations for the City, County, Municipal and P3 supplier diversity program. The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing all of the business development and diversity outreach programs and supervision of all outreach related planning, logistics, communications and staffing for all planned events and supervision of the respective staff. Communicates Minority/Women/Veteran/Disability-owned Business Enterprise (XBE) related policies and upcoming projects to stakeholders and the XBE community through public networking and program awareness. Attends grassroots meetings to bring the OMWBD resources and programming to new XBE firms. Solicits and manages sponsorships and creates strategic partnerships to support all of the business development and diversity outreach programming. Position reports to Director.

The agency helps company’s access contract opportunities from the city, county, municipal, and privately funded projects in Central Indiana by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for the workforce to meet the needs of the citizens of Indianapolis and Marion County.

Requirements

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate all aspects of OMWBD events, programs, and marketing
  • Develop successful partnerships to support OMWBD programming
  • Attend all public networking functions and stakeholder meetings as a speaker or to provide guidance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders regarding best practices for program development
  • Solicit and manage sponsorships and create strategic partnerships to support business development and diversity outreach
  • Manage the scheduling of all events for OMWBD
  • Provide business certification consultations and public awareness of the OMWBD program
  • Serve as the liaison for all IBE initiatives
  • Serve as the agency committee representative and awards selection committee chair for the Mayors Celebration of Diversity
  • Provide backup assistance to the communications coordinator
  • Be the ambassador for supplier diversity and give presentations at events
  • Continuous feedback on the effectiveness of programs is given to the director on public meetings and networking events
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field with two (2) years of related experience required. Ability to manage several tasks under pressure.

Ability to develop, manage and maintain internal and external relationships with XBE’s and prime contractors. Ability to effectively present information to senior leadership, and team-members.

Ability to respond to inquiries from city, county, external personnel, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to communicate effectively in digital, oral, and written formats.

Firm understanding of media and communications, as well as good time management abilities with strong attention to details. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
