Full Job Description

This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Asst Secretary for Housing-Federal Housing Commissioner. Washington D.C.

is a potential duty location for this position; however, the Washington D.C. office is expected to relocate to Alexandria, Virginia.

Selectees may be required to report initially to Washington, D.C and later report to Alexandria, Virginia.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-14: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in ALL of the following: - Providing technical advice and guidance on data processing projects and software issues affecting the program office; AND - Conducting analysis of systems to determine the nature of system requirements and whether new systems or enhancements should be developed; AND - Demonstrated experience in project management techniques for developing, implementing, and maintaining systems and overseeing contracts; AND - Developing and implementing data processing methods and techniques which are utilized in management information activities.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

As a Management Information Specialist, you will: - Manage information system projects related to Housing program work and ensuring the compliance of Housing systems with federal information security requirements.

- Provide support to Housing in special studies and plans relating to Housing information systems and audits, coordinate with other Housing offices, the Office of the Chief Information Officer, the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, and other Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offices that participate in the management of HUD's systems.

- Prepare and implement a wide range of plans, assessments and reports, which require an in-depth understanding and expert judgment in the management of business applications.

- Analyze and apply complex regulatory guidance and standards affecting Housing operations and system management.

- Provide a full range of project management, leadership, and analytical support needed to address all issues relevant to Housing application maintenance and operations and enhancements.
