Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a data expert for the Federal Student Aid office, where you'll analyze student loan and aid programs using numbers and insights to help make better decisions and improve how data is organized and used.

Full Job Description

This position is located in Federal Student Aid, Data Division, Strategic Planning and Policy Implementation Office, in Washington, DC.

The Data Division, Strategic Planning and Policy Implementation Office is responsible for providing high quality data analytics to inform stakeholders and enhance FSA's capabilities to make informed strategic management decisions.

Minimum Qualifications You may meet the minimum requirements for the GS-15 if you possess the specialized experience.

Specialized Experience for the GS-15 One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-14 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments: 1.

Experience using student aid systems to evaluate, assess, and improve Federal Student Aid programs and data management systems by applying a wide range of qualitative and quantitative techniques. 2.

Experience recommending adjustments to policies, Federal Student Aid programs, projects, data structure, and studies to resolve data problems and improve operations and efficiencies in major core processes.

3. Experience preparing and presenting recommendations and briefing reports on how student aid data should be structured to provide the most effective and efficient usage for Federal Student Aid.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs).

1. Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment of student aid program activities to respond to controversial and complicated inquiries and data requests. 2.

Knowledge of current and previous student financial assistance programs to develop/enhance programs and systems for the analysis of large amounts of data involved in the administration of a student loan portfolio.

3. Knowledge of Title IV systems and repositories and the tools and languages needed to extract, analyze, and report Title IV Aid programs data. 4.

Ability to prepare recommendations and responses in written and graphical format using the techniques for the optimum visual display of quantitative information. Major Duties:
